FRISCOGRAPHY
“A voice to bend steel, then charm the birds from the trees.... “
Frisco is a singer, pure and simple. He is also one of the truly great frontmen in the business today. He can turn an audience on its head within seconds of hitting the stage, through his energy, belief and commitment to the music , the audience and the show.
John has been influenced by every genre of music, and has always been a fan of great singers; from Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Joe Cocker and James Brown (of course!), to the great rock vocalists and front men of the Seventies, David Coverdale, Freddie Mercury and Paul Rogers to name but a few.
Although he is a multi-
John’s career started at the age of 13 on the tough Northern club circuit in and around Manchester, singing and playing guitar in a band that included his older brother and sister. After leaving school, he met the core of the Atlantic Frantics musicians at music college, soon forming Frisco Crabbe & the Atlantic Frantics for a few University gigs in 1991.
The Frisco Crabbe band has since gone from strength to strength, becoming one of the most successful and enduring ‘party’ bands in the UK. Frisco has played for festivals, venues, parties, universities, weddings and events during a career spanning 22 years. He and the band have appeared on television as well as performing in the USA, Australia and Europe.
One of the biggest honours for John and the members of the band was being asked to perform in front of 15,000 people for the Manchester Millennium Party at the Castlefield Arena. Unfortunately, no pictures were taken of the band at this very special event, but the large ‘home city’ show will always be remembered by John!!
Although the Frisco set includes a lot of soul and funk music, the band also likes to include rock, jazz and pop in the show; no pigeonholing, just great music. If an audience can dance to it, it’s in!! The Frisco show has always been about more than great music; John feels that the audience should feel involved, and that they should have something to watch as well as dance to. Big clothes, big music, big show...... sho’nuff!
Here’s to the next 22!!
